Murray and Averill Barrington
Freedom Wigs Ltd is owned and operated by Murray and Averill Barrington. With over 25 years experience in the wig-making business, their expertise and innovation are second to none.

Located in Dunedin, New Zealand, Freedom Wigs comprises a team of 19 people, each a specialist in his or her field of the manufacturing process, be it hair grading, blending, implantation or mould making. All are dedicated to quality, customer service and ongoing product development.

The business began back in 1977 when Murray made men's toupees in a spare room at home. Eleven years later he began creating full cap prosthetic hairpieces for women with Alopecia Totalis and Universalis. Wanting to give customers the benefit of suction cap security without the use of tapes or adhesives, Murray and Averill oversaw extensive research and development, resulting in Freedom Hair's permeable silicone caps.

Since then, Freedom Wigs are now available in 10 different countries and many hundreds of men and women throughout the world have discovered new-found confidence and freedom.  Almost all the sales representatives for Freedom Wigs are delighted customers who also have Alopecia and wear Freedom Wigs themselves!

The team at Freedom Hair is passionate about changing people's lives for the better. Part of this involves following the ethics that have helped form the company's culture.
